I have over 10 years of restaurant & bar industry experience. I’ve worked as a server, server trainer, bartender, and bar manager.
I have done my share of job hunting - going door to door with resumes in hand, standing on line at cattle call interviews, checking Craigslist daily and following up on any and every tip.
Despite all best efforts, I always seemed to miss out on great job opportunities. The restaurants & bars missed out on me too.
I was still lucky enough to find work, but I always believed that there should be an easier and more efficient way to get exposure to restaurant & bar jobs.
My work as a bar manager revealed another complication. Whenever I needed to find qualified candidates to fill a position I'd place an ad on Craigslist. I’d then get slammed with over 200 applications from mostly unqualified candidates - information overload.
I'd spend three or more weeks weeding, interviewing and hiring a qualified candidate for my job opening. I always believed that there should be an easier and more efficient way to find qualified restaurant & bar professionals.
My experiences as a job seeker and a hiring manager inspired my idea to make the process of finding a great job and making a good hire easier and more efficient through the use of internet technology.
